I am so excited to share with you that today I am a Guest Designer on You Had Me At Craft! How fabulous is that?!!! For my guest designer project I created a thankful mini album. My little cousin's birthday was this week and it just so happens she is here visiting with her family from Ontario. This means we were able to spend her 9th birthday with her! One part of her birthday gift from me was this book. She has just recently got into scrapbooking herself. I might have sent her a kit... starting the addiction young lol! She also joined a group at school that scrapbooks at lunch time. (Why didn't we have anything like this when I was in school?!) When I get a permament position I am going to start a scrapbooking club at the school! Anyways, here is the book I made for her. Some of the pages are pockets on both sides, some are just half page pockets and some are just blank pages. For the base I used file folders so it is nice and thick and sturdy. The papers and embellishments are mostly from a paper pad by atd, Momenta with a few papers from Me and My Big Ideas. To bind it I used my GBC comb binding machine with a 1" clear binding. The ribbon on the binding are just pieces from my stash and the felt flower is one I made. The words on the front are made with stickers from my stash. Oh and of course no mini album would be complete without my Elles Studio date stamp :)

Hi Crafters,
Right now I am in Ontario on vacation. I have left some scheduled posts for you so you wouldn't miss me too much ;) I am in Ontario to attend my cousin's wedding and I made a little surprise for her to go along with her wedding gift from my family. I was dying to show you all this before I left but as she checks my blog sometimes I didn't want to ruin the surprise. I figure I am safe to show it today as today is her wedding day and I know for a fact she will not even think twice about my little ol' blog today... and I am totally okay with that lol.

I am so excited that I am the guest crafter today on Georgiana's blog Carson's Cricut Creations. For my appearance I made a booklet that we will take with us on our trip to Ontario next week. I have been seeing those 'smash books' popping up and really liked the idea. I don't actually want to take glue and supplies on vacation (well... I do lol, but am not allowed and won't have much down time) so I decided to make a book with pockets that I can just tuck all our brochures and ticket stubs in and then I will have them all in one place when I need them for creating my scrapbook afterwards. I have not decided yet but I might even use this book as a mini book afterwards.
To create this book I used the same template as my card organizer/holder that I made a while ago. The measurements of the book are 8" by 7" with 4" deep pockets.The link for that book is here if you would like to take a look. I also made a video of the card book and a demo on how to cut down and fold one of the pages so that you can make your own if you wish. Scroll down to the bottom of this post for the video.
For my book I used all patterned scrap paper. This helped out a bit on my mission to use my scraps up! I did cut one 12 x 12 piece down just for the cover because I didn't have any more big scraps that I liked enough for the cover after completing the inside pages but not bad considering :) The title on the front is stickers from my stash and little pieces of ribbon are all from my older stash of ribbon. The date stamp is from Elle's Studio. My favourite stamp in the whole wide world! (followed very closely by many others I assure you)
One more thing before you go....see the felt flower on the front? I got the Cuttlebug scallops dies on clearance recently and went crazy one night making these. When I saw that the challenge last week on the blog Made by Momo was all about princesses I was so excited. I have had this idea in my head for a while now and this was just the push to get me started. Here is what I worked on over the weekend...

1. I didn't use any Cricut cuts other then the main book, I am trying to use up some stuff that has been collecting some major dust in the last year since my bug arrived.
2. Colorbok glitter paper is very messy and I think I had more on me then my book did by the time I was finished.
3. I got to use one of my newly made beaded flower embellishments and three mini glue dots held it in place perfect!
4. Yes, I really was a princess once (for my community) and Miss Congeniality for an entire year! You know what they say, once a princess always a princess ;)

That is what I do so that I can print it off as many times as I like.
I am an avid stalker of Sheri from http://auntierere.blogspot.com/ She is one of the designers for Elles Studio and when I saw how she used the 'Summer Documented' kit I purchased it right away however, it then sat on my computer for months while my Cricut obsession wore on. It was just recently I decided to print all those great digital/hybrid products I purchased over the last few months (when my Cricut was MIA, see past posts if you are a newer follower). I am 28 year old subsitute teacher. I live with my understanding husband (he hardly ever complains about how much time I spend in my craft room)! My favorite pastime is scrapbooking and in the last year I have started card making. Which has become sort of an obsession I might add (who knew you could actually run out of scraps lol)
