Birthday Sundaes Challenge #15

Hi Everyone,
Welcome to a new challenge from Birthday Sundaes. This week the challenge is to use stars and strips on your card (any colours you would like). It whipped up the background to this card in 5 min. flat but then came the die cut. This was actually the third different one I made. Things were just not going my way lol. These challenges are really challenging for me lately it seems :) I finally just told myself it was as good as it was going to get because I needed to get it done. Overall, I am not happy with the card at all but I am sure we all have those cards. Head over the the Birthday Sundaes challenge blog and see the rest of the DT for some great inspiration and then get crafting!
Tara
P.S. the cut is from Rock Princess and the papers are glitter max and the stamp is Justwordz. I don't have time to list all the details but if there is something you are wondering about just drop me a line.

Wedding Mini Album

Hi Crafters,
Right now I am in Ontario on vacation. I have left some scheduled posts for you so you wouldn't miss me too much ;) I am in Ontario to attend my cousin's wedding and I made a little surprise for her to go along with her wedding gift from my family. I was dying to show you all this before I left but as she checks my blog sometimes I didn't want to ruin the surprise. I figure I am safe to show it today as today is her wedding day and I know for a fact she will not even think twice about my little ol' blog today... and I am totally okay with that lol.
Have a wonderful day everyone and I'll try and check in soon!
Tara

Birthday Sundaes Challenge #14

Hello Crafters,
This week is 'shaped birthday cards' on birthday sundaes. I had never made a shaped card before so I decided to take the easy route and use a cartridge with the shape card feature. Unfortunately this was not the easy route afterall :S It got done but it was not a pretty process. Let's just say I hope you have much better luck making yours! I found the cuts on the Hello Kitty cartridge didn't match up. The card base and layers were cut at two different sizes (base and black outline 4 3/4" and layers cut @ 5") I was still left with a little white showing from under the layer but my mini tag covered it just fine and my Justwordz stamps worked so perfectly on the mini tag. I love smaller sentiments! In the end it turned out cute and I am happy with it but can't say I am going to make a bunch of these ones in different colours lol.
Good luck and I can't wait to see what you come up with!
Tara

***Oh my goodness I almost forgot! This week the challenge is sponsored by fellow DT member Michelle and it is a Just Because Card cartridge. What an awesome prize! Thanks Michelle :)

Guest Crafter Day

Hi Everyone,
I am so excited that I am the guest crafter today on Georgiana's blog Carson's Cricut Creations. For my appearance I made a booklet that we will take with us on our trip to Ontario next week. I have been seeing those 'smash books' popping up and really liked the idea. I don't actually want to take glue and supplies on vacation (well... I do lol, but am not allowed and won't have much down time) so I decided to make a book with pockets that I can just tuck all our brochures and ticket stubs in and then I will have them all in one place when I need them for creating my scrapbook afterwards. I have not decided yet but I might even use this book as a mini book afterwards.

To create this book I used the same template as my card organizer/holder that I made a while ago. The measurements of the book are 8" by 7" with 4" deep pockets. The link for that book is here if you would like to take a look. I also made a video of the card book and a demo on how to cut down and fold one of the pages so that you can make your own if you wish. Scroll down to the bottom of this post for the video.

For my book I used all patterned scrap paper. This helped out a bit on my mission to use my scraps up! I did cut one 12 x 12 piece down just for the cover because I didn't have any more big scraps that I liked enough for the cover after completing the inside pages but not bad considering :) The title on the front is stickers from my stash and little pieces of ribbon are all from my older stash of ribbon. The date stamp is from Elle's Studio. My favourite stamp in the whole wide world! (followed very closely by many others I assure you)

One more thing before you go....see the felt flower on the front? I got the Cuttlebug scallops dies on clearance recently and went crazy one night making these. They were so easy and I just love them! Would you like to win some? For your chance to win just comment on this post with your contact information :)

Thank you again Georgiana for this wonderful opportuntity to share my creation with you and your followers.
Thanks for stopping by today and happy crafting!

Tara

I am also going to link this project up the TGIF link up party at http://www.craftjunkietoo.com/

Here's the video...enjoy!

And...here is all the flowers I made!

What a deal!

Hello Crafty People,
I saw something in one of those photos last night and realized that I never shared the awesome deal that I got on the weekend. I went to a few yard sales with my future in-laws and I found all kinds of crafty goodness!
I only spent $6 in total on all the stuff in the picture below can you believe that!!! The entire box of lace, ribbon and ric rac (sp?) was only $4, the huge tin of buttons was $1, the plastic bead storage container was $1 and the book was free :) I just love a good deal especially when it feeds my addiction and keeps me on budget!
Humm, I wonder if anyone is having a yard sale this weekend.....

My Scrap Room

Hello Crafters,
Earlier I saw that Christina from Creations with Christina had another 'show us' link up party going on. When I read the topic 'show us your craft space' I actually LOL. It was a crazy weekend and between running in and out to different things I managed to get some crafting in. I did not however get to the clean up part. I decided it needed to be cleaned up before I could take a photo. I was just starting to clean when I thought this might be a real transformation and grabbed my camera for a before shot. I am so glad I did and now that it is all nice and neat again I am happy to share not only the after but the before as well so you can see how hard I worked :) It took the better part of the afternoon to get the room back into shape.

I have been looking at some of the great rooms that have already been linked and have to say I am a bit intimidated but I am linking up because I love to see all sorts of rooms and it always amazes me to see part of dinning rooms or a closet turned into a workstation. My room may not have all matching furniture or be a pretty colour but I do have an entire spare room of our apt. and for that I am grateful!
Thanks for taking a peek into my little slice of paradise!
Tara

BEFORE
Honestly, my craft space never looks this bad!

AFTER

This is my favourite decoration in my room :)

My Second row of cartridges is stuck behind these ones...poor things. Just no room to display them all.

And now can you see why I am on a paper diet?! I put the ruler there just to give you a real sense. After I broke some furniture from the weight of some paper packs I decided to pile them all on the floor. When Brian saw them all together he was a tad unsupportive but I told him I would try really hard not to by anymore and I have been I swear. I have only added maybe an inch to this this year....shhh he has not really noticed though :) The real sad part...my cardstock and loose patterned papers are in some of those towers in the closet. These are just the patterned paper pads :S Yes, I admit I have a problem!!!

Birthday Sundaes Challenge #13

Hi everyone,
This week on Birthday Sundaes the challenge is to make a birthday card with embossing on it!

For my card I used a base that I had started at a Stampin' up party. We embossed it with a Stampin' up folder and then we used a sponge to link the embossing up. It was really quite neat to start to see the embossing really take shape with the colour. My technique needs some work but I think this will be something I try again in the future. As for the little butterflies I used my new Sizzix Embosslits folder called beautiful wings. I ordered this from Stampin' up. The party was the first time I saw something that cut and embossed all in one step and lets just say I was in love :) Thanks for checking out my card and the rest of the details will be listed below it if there is something you are wondering about.

Be sure to check out the rest of the design teams cards and then once you are inspired get to crafting and show us your embossed creations!
Happy Crafting!
Tara

Punch Storage

Hi Crafters,
Christina from Creations with Christina is doing a link up series showing different parts of peoples craft rooms. This week she asked everyone to share how they store their punches. I just love looking at all the different and creative ways people store their stuff so I thought I would join in. I store all my punches in two clear three drawer towers. I am not 100% happy with this as I often forget about them and thus don't use them near enough but it keeps them from getting dusty at least lol. Below is a picture of the two towers and then a shot of each drawer so you can see how they are organized.
Thanks for looking! You should link up too I would love to see how you store your punches!
Tara

Still room to grow in the drawer below :)

I am not a fan of the Fiskars and Martha Stewart edge punches because I actually find them bulky and hard to store, 3 out of the 4 I only bought because they were on clearance for an excellent price. These four have their own drawer because of the space they need.

I find the EK Success ones much better because they are flat and can stack if you need them to. I am sticking with these from now on.

And then there are all the mini punches. Most are from dollar stores and Michael's. Before I owned my Cricut I was a bit obsessed with these...can you tell?! I liked them better then stickers because I could use them over and over again.

I just took this last picture because I loved all the colours mixed like this. Very creatively inspiring :)

Using up the scraps project #9 and #10

Hi Everyone,
I am loving the Mojo Monday sketch this week and it just so happens is uses four pieces of 1' by 4' pieces of yup....you knew it scraps :) This is another one of those cards that would look great with just about any colours/patterns. Just check out the Mojo Monday blog and see the great design team examples and the hundreds (yup hundreds) of entries into this weeks challenge to get some amazing inspiration! I did only make one of these but you never know what the future holds :)

My using up my scraps project #10 is on my project #9 card. I made a few of these folded flowers/rosettes the other day and I love them! They were so super easy to make (I can't believe I waited this long to try them), there are some video tutorials on youtube. I just searched youtube and found one to show me the basics then I was off to use up some more of those pesky strips that I seem to not even be putting a dent in.
Happy Crafting!
