Using up the Scraps Project # 7

Hello again,
I am having so much fun making projects with just my scraps. It is unbelievable what you can do when you put your mind to it. Did you ever think I would find seven different techniques for using up my scraps...I sure didn't and you know the best part I have a whole list more to make and share! I found this great video addressing this idea and I just had to share. When she said she has a 1 inch rule I was amazed! It's not just me lol. I even played that part again and made Brian watch it! After watching this video I got to thinking about 1 inch squares and bam....a new design was created. Here are some pictures of the cards I made. They are so simple and I love them! I am starting to think I like the simple clean look. I made the bright colourful one first and then when Brian gave it his approval I knew I need to make some more in more manly colours. This idea is going into my mass production file for the future! The sentiment is a stamp from the Ek Success Image Tree line.

May's Craft Spending

Hi Everyone,
Well, I suppose it is well into June I might as well post this....I am starting to get a little discouraged with this whole trying not to spend on crafting because it seems I have a but more then an obsession... it is more like an addiciton *sigh*.

I was so excited to have my first ever Stampin' Up party last month! It turned out I loved everything they sell and because of this I didn't do well again this month...

I did order a new stamp set from a new line that I am super excited about though. Justwordz is brand new and I can't wait until I have more time to play with the stamps! Kimberly from Justwordz makes the most amazing cards using her sentiments and I have already been getting a ton of inspiration from her blog, check it out!

In conclusion I didn't break my promise from last month about doing better (honestly, could I have done worse?! lol) but I still am not happy with the end totals so here is to June and a fresh start once again!

Just Wordz card / Using up the scraps Project # 6

Hello Crafters,
I recently purchased a set of Just Wordz stamps. I thought they were the neatest idea. There are so many times when I know exactly what I want to use as a sentiment but can not find a stamp to match it. With this stamp set you can make your own! It comes with 69 words that you can mix and match to your hearts content! One thing I did learn on this first card is that when Kim says that her stamps are perfectly spaced to leave just the right amount of space between each word...trust her! I felt the need to space them and well it turned out to be a huge gap. Teachers are the worst listeners sometimes lol...I think we just want to make the mistake for ourselves so we never have to question it again :)

The card is a special one. My mom has had the same Milkman for 20 years. However, since my 6'3" ex-football player brother moved out she has noticed that she no longer needs liters upon liters of milk lol. So she has decided to say goodbye to the faithful milkman and just pick up what she needs at the store from now on. She asked me to make her a cute card that she could give to him for all his wonderful years of service. Below is what I came up with. I know it looks a bit kiddish but this man is always smiling and such a friendly guy I think he will love it!

Oh, and yup, again all scraps. The technique today...remember your Cricut loves scraps, just make sure your mat is good and sticky for those really small pieces. I remember when I first got my Cricut and thought I had to use a full 12 x 12 piece for each cut. Thank goodness I watched Robyn's (The Pink Stamper) videos and she set me straight. If you are new to Cricut and want to learn about cutting smaller pieces I highly recommend you pop over to her site and start watching her Cricut videos from the beginning. You will be glad you did!

Finally, I am going to link this card to the Create a Critter series that Stacy has going on over on her blog Love that bug.

Long winded today :)

Using up the Scraps Project # 5 continued

Hi Everyone,
So I was not quite done with the last idea. I realized while watching the tutorial (see scraping you stash project # 5 post) that it was for a past challenge. After making a few with bits and pieces I decided to head over the challenge gallery and get some more colour combo inspiration. What is when I saw this card. I was in love yet again! I yanked out the scraps again and got to work. These are my favourite using up the scraps project yet!!! See what I mean about no matter what paper you use it just keeps turning out better and better! The sentiment is again from the Playful Expressions by TPC Studio set.
I hope you are having as much viewing these projects as I am making them. Again, if you make anything with these ideas please send me the link!

I would like to enter these two cards into the current challenge at Card makin mamas where the challenge is to make a card using your scraps!

Officially Published!

Hello Everyone,
It's finally here...the June issue of Ginger ScrapStreet Magazine. I recently submitted my "boot card" to Krystal at Getting Cricky and I was so super excited when she emailed me back saying that I was going to be published in an online scrapbooking magazine! Here is the link to the current issue and the page my card is featured on in Ginger ScrapStreet. The entire magazine is awesome and well worth a look through but this is my favourite page this month lol.

The card I made was actually the beginning of my 'tired of all the scraps' mission. The entire card (even the base) was made from my scrap pile! Once I cut the die cut I couldn't help but think there was something missing. I traced the scored decorative lines on the boots with a while jelly roll pen and it looked like a whole new piece. I loved the effect so much that I snapped a picture before I did the second boot (yup, I made two of these cards) I was excited about showing this on my blog because it just shows how adding a little something can make all the difference in the world. I am glad I can now finally share lol. I will put the picture below with my card photo.

I want to say a HUGE thank you to Krystal! You have no idea how much this as made my entire month!
Happy Crafting!

Using up the Scraps Project # 5

Hello Crafters,
I totally scraplifted today's idea too. When I saw this card a couple weeks ago on the blog My paper obsession I was in love! Once reading the post I discovered this link with a tutorial on how to make this card. The instructions were great and it was so super easy. I might have made a few lol. No matter what colour and or patterns I used they just kept turning out cooler! You have to try it!
If you do please leave me a link because I want to see it! The stamp set I used for both of these was Playful Expressions by TPC Studio. Don't these cards just look like inspirational quotes belong on them!?

P.S why yes that is another lace flower I made...I am lovin' those too :)
