New blog address
Hi Crafters,
I just wanted to make a quick note about the fact that I have changed my blog address. I am hoping this doesn't affect too much. I hated the Creative Princess part since I started this blog and just today finally figured out how to change it. If you have been linked somewhere my new address is tarashomemadehappiness.blogspot.com So much nicer, shorter and easier to remember :)
Thanks everyone and let me know if you notice anything messed up because of my change.

Birthday Sundaes challenge #24
Hi Everyone,
This week the challenge on Birthday Sundaes is a photo inspiration challenge. Here is a peek at the photo...
This week the challenge on Birthday Sundaes is a photo inspiration challenge. Here is a peek at the photo...
And here is a look at my card I was inspired to make ...
(sorry this pic is so dark I had to take it at night)
Details:
Staples Brand white cardstock (I love this stuff..thick and super smooth)
Coloured cardstock is Recollections
Banner stamp from Michael's
Chalk inks from Michael's
Sentiment: Justwordz Everyday Sentiments stamp set
Twinery Baker's Twine
Baubles from My Stamping Studio
I have seen cards similar to this made and wanted give it a try. I inked up a Michael's stamp that I bought forever ago and never used. I stamped each colour a few times and then cut all the little flags out leaving myself enough paper on the top of each one to be able to fold it over the twine to create a banner. Overall, I love the effect but as simple as it looks...it was a lot of work!
Head over to the Birthday Sundaes blog to see how all the other DT members were inspired and then get crafty!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Birthday Sundaes Challenge # 23
Hi Everyone,
This week the challenge on Birthday Sundaes is a colour challenge. Create a card using only pink/green/white and other neutrals if needed. Oh and don't forget the birthday sentiment on the front of your card. Then link up before next Sunday (Aug. 28) so we can all be inspired and you will be given the chance to win a great prize! DT Member Sue has sponsored us with a set of Large Oval Scallops Nestabilities. Thanks Sue!
I decided to try and get myself ahead a bit and make a card for my Nanny who's birthday is in September. I find I have a ton of cards made up but most of them are kiddish and well honestly, I don't have very many kids I give birthday cards too so I am really going to have to try and come out of my box and make some more mature looking cards. Wish me luck :)

Got ink stained hands?
Hi Everyone, I have a different sort of post today. Recently, I have been doing a lot of inking and playing around with alcohol inks and well my hands look a mess after I am done. My fiance is a technician and he has this Fast Orange Soap by Permatex to clean off the oil and grease that he is always covered in. I decided to give it a shot one night after looking at my insanely stained hands. Guess what? It took every last trace of ink off! I was so impressed! Since then I think I have been using it just as much as him lol. I wanted to share this with all you crafters out there because it may not be something that is in your house but I am telling you it should be! He tells me that you can get it at auto supply stores and even Walmart in the auto section! Go grab yourself a bar you will be glad you did :)
Happy messing crafting!

Birthday Sundaes Challenge #22
Hello Crafters,
This week's Birthday Sundaes challenge is to incorporate at least 3 brads onto your birthday card, and don't forget a birthday sentiment to your card front! The DT has some great inspiration for you this week so pop over to the Birthday Sundaes blog and check them as well as our guest designer this week Laurie from Scraps By Sissy.
I made a masculine card this week for our challenge and I don't want to sound full of myself but I think it just might be the best masculine card I have ever made! I made it for my Grampy for his birthday and as soon as I got it done Brian saw it and decided he wanted the exact same card for his Grampy (their birthday's are only a couple days apart and this year both at their party on the same Sunday)! So in the end I ended up making 2 of this card and I might just make another as a spare because I find it hard to make masculine cards and I am always struggling at the last minute to make one. I chalked, distressed and inked the heck out of this card (Kelly will be so proud...she has been teaching me well) and I just love the effect and hope you do too!
Thanks for looking and hope you can play along this week!

*** Yup my pearl pen exploded on the corner.
I tried to clean it off by wiping it but as you can see it left it's mark.
I was just adding it as a finishing touch too because I thought the card
looked like it was missing something...
I got a little more then a little something I'm afraid :(

Embellishments, embellishments and more embellishments
Hi Everyone,
I have always loved to make embellishments but this summer this seems to have taken on a life of it's own! I am having so much fun making them that I have to keep stopping and reminding myself that I need to start making things to actually put them on, lol! Here is a picture from one such day. I went to Michael's in the morning and purchased one huge bag of babbles/skittles, whatever you would like to call them and 6 acohol inks. I spent the rest of the day mixing colours and dying to my heart's content! The next morning I bounced out of bed and headed back to Michael's to buy another pack of 3 acohol inks and a new Craft Mates organizer to put all my babbles in. I then spent more hours dying and mixing and dying and mixing. I have every colour of the rainbow now :) and enough supplies to make hundreds more! It was kind of expensive to get all the stuff because the inks are expensive but remember to use your coupons if you decided to buy them and a little goes a long way so I don't think I will ever have to worry about running out. I was looking at buying some online because I liked the ones that were very bright colours but the fact that I live in Canada and shipping is high is what prevents me from buying some things. Even thought it did cost a lot to get started I think about the hours (and hours) of fun I had making them and now using them and I think it was worth it!
Happy embellishing!

Haul Photos
Hi Everyone,
I just realized I totally forgot to include my haul photos with my monthly spending post. Here they are:
Pretty sure this not all of it...ok I am sure this is not all of it lol, but this is all the photos I seem to have. I think I am getting bad at taking them.

July Monthly Spending
Last month I didn't do great with my spending but I have found a way to help myself. I have started teaching classes at a local scrapbooking store and I have decided it to time again to sell some of my creations. That being said I have decided that any money that I make from teaching or selling my crafts can be deducted from my total craft supply spending each month. Makes perfect sense to me :)
July (remember I am on vacation which means lots of time to spend lol)
2nd - My Stamping Studio $39.97
7th - Rewards $7.80

Birthday Sundaes Challenge #21
Hi Crafters,
This week on Birthday Sundaes the challenge is "a birthday card with a birthday sentiment" How easy is that! This week we are being sponsored by Gingerloft Digi Stamps. What cute images they have! We were sent a couple to choose from and I am telling you it was a hard decision lol. I finally decided on the cute little turtle stack! I thought he looked like he was trying to point to himself and I knew just the stamp...my Michael's stamp that I purchased forever ago finally saw some ink. This card is so simple and yet I love it! Don't you just love when everything comes together perfectly?! Even my hand dyed skittles/babbles were the perfect colour! (That reminds me...I'll show you more about that later this week)!
Don't forget to check out the other DT creations and then link up your project for your chance to win 3 digis of your choice from our fabulous sponsor!
Also, The winner of the prize pack of embellishments that I was giving away in honour of the Birthday Sundaes blog hop last week is.....

Congrats and thanks for following my blog! I will be emailing you shortly!

JustWordz DT Day
It's FRIDAY!!! And we know what that means...JustWordz DT day :) This week we were asked to create projects with a birthday theme. Not a problem! Just so happens birthday themed projects are my favourite :)
This week I used my Sweethearts cricut cartridge for my card. I know a weird pick for a birthday card but I'm not really sure where a bubblegum machine comes into the wedding/love theme lol. Although we are having a candy bar at my wedding :) I love how this card turned out! You can't really see it in the picture but I used glossy accents on the entire "glass" surface of the bubble gum machine. It looks really neat!
Don't forget to check out all the other great JustWordz DT members and comment on all their blogs as well as the JustWordz blog for your chance to win a set of JustWordz stamps all your own. The stamps are also on special right now so what are you waiting for go get yourself a set!

Lucie's Nova Scotia Trip
*** If you are looking for the Birthday Sundaes blog hop click here. Also on that post I am having a giveaway so check it out!
Hi Crafters,
My little cousin's birthday was this week and it just so happens she is here visiting with her family from Ontario. This means we were able to spend her 9th birthday with her! One part of her birthday gift from me was this book. She has just recently got into scrapbooking herself. I might have sent her a kit... starting the addiction young lol! She also joined a group at school that scrapbooks at lunch time. (Why didn't we have anything like this when I was in school?!) When I get a permament position I am going to start a scrapbooking club at the school! Anyways, here is the book I made for her. Some of the pages are pockets on both sides, some are just half page pockets and some are just blank pages. For the base I used file folders so it is nice and thick and sturdy. The papers and embellishments are mostly from a paper pad by atd, Momenta with a few papers from Me and My Big Ideas. To bind it I used my GBC comb binding machine with a 1" clear binding. The ribbon on the binding are just pieces from my stash and the felt flower is one I made. The words on the front are made with stickers from my stash. Oh and of course no mini album would be complete without my Elles Studio date stamp :)
Thanks for stopping by today and Happy Crafting!
