Pink Stamper Birthday Challenge

Hello Crafters,
Over on the Pink Stamper blog she has a couple challenges on. The first was to make something birthday related. Below is the card I made. This was the first cut I made with my Rock Princess cartridge and I think I am in love! I just love how the card turned out. I even have the perfect person to give it to, although her birthday isn't until May, but hey never hurts to be ahead of the game right?!
Happy crafting everyone!
Tara

Recipe:
A2 size card
Recollections cardstock
Patterned paper - Me & My Big Ideas paper pad
Cricut Cut - Rock Princess Cartridge cut at 3"
Stamp - Pink By Design (Rock On set)
Ribbon - Offray
Bling- Dollarama
*see the teenie tiny star bling on her guitar and on her bows? That was from the set below that I got at Dollarama. If you can get your hands on it they rock! I have stars and flowers and wish I had more. They are perfect for the little details that most regular bling is too big for.

Knock your socks off deal!

Hello Crafters,
You are never going to believe this one. Micheals had some of their cartridges coming on for $17.99 this week. I went in on Monday after school to see what might be left. In the aisle there was a sign stating that this location did not have any of the cartridges that were on for $17.99. Now, if you remember the same thing happened a couple weeks ago when they were really cheap and I was told it was because our store was a new one and so they had no older stock to put on clearance. I was a little annoyed that this was looking like the situation again. As I was about to leave a manager addressed me and asked if there was anything she could help with. I explained that I was only interested in the cartridges on sale. Her reply was "I am so sorry but if you care to take a look we have some returned ones up at the checkout that are on clearance for $2 to get rid of them. $2 you say!!! Hummm, returned? I had to the look!!! There were six cartridges all still in their orginial packaging. I had all but two but of course I bought them ALL. You never know when you might need a cartirdge cartridge to give away! ;)
Happy crafting!

My Creative Time Challenge

Hello Crafters,
Emma has a great challenge currently running on her blog Creative Time For Me. It is to use the paper dolls cartridges. I just love these cartridges. Yes, there are many layers but they are an awesome way to use up those teenie tiny scraps that I hope other people keep too lol. Here is my entry into the challenge:

Recipe:
A2 size base
Happy Birthday Cuttlebug embossing folder
Base - Recollections cardstock
All other cardstock and patterned paper from scrap pile
Peachy Keen face stamps
Bling and ribbon - Dollarama
Glitter Glue (on ice cream)
Pink by Design Stamps - sentiment

Made by Momo Challenge

Hello Everyone,
When I saw that the challenge last week on the blog Made by Momo was all about princesses I was so excited. I have had this idea in my head for a while now and this was just the push to get me started. Here is what I worked on over the weekend...

Recipe:
CDS - Plantin Schoolbook & Paper Dolls Dress Up
Patterned papers -  DCWV All about girls glitter pack
Purple Glitter paper - Colorbok
Tags - Elles Studio you can buy the printables (what I used) at Jessicasprague.com
Embellishments - from my stash
Tulle to decorate binding
Things to note:
1. I didn't use any Cricut cuts other then the main book, I am trying to use up some stuff that has been collecting some major dust in the last year since my bug arrived.
2. Colorbok glitter paper is very messy and I think I had more on me then my book did by the time I was finished.
3. I got to use one of my newly made beaded flower embellishments and three mini glue dots held it in place perfect!
4. Yes, I really was a princess once (for my community) and Miss Congeniality for an entire year! You know what they say, once a princess always a princess ;)

Making your own Embellishments- Beaded Flowers Video

Hello Crafters,
Here is the video I posted about earlier. I think these flowers are going to look great on my scrapbook pages and cards. I am thinking 3-4 glue dots should do the trick to hold them on. I'll let you know for sure when I try it. I hope I explain it well enough in the video. Honestly, the first couple will be hard but once you figure it out, you'll be able to whip them out in no time. It takes me between 5 to 10 minutes to make one now that I have it down. If you have any questions feel free to message me.
Thanks for watching!
Tara
P.S. Sorry it is a bit blurry. We got a new camera and clearly I need to play with the settings a bit more.

Making your own Embellishments

Hello Crafters,
Like many others I have made it a craft resolution this year to use up things in my stash and spend less money on crafting in 2011. So far so good! (Although, my spending spree in December is keeping me well supplied lol) Below are some close ups of the beaded flowers I have become a little obsessed with making this week. I filmed an instruction video and will post that in a bit once I get it all figured out, so if you are interested check back!

Chicken Soup for the Scrapbooker's Soul

Dear Crafters,
Currently I am reading the Chicken Soup for the Scrapbooker's Soul. It is so uplifting and inspirational. The first section of the book was about the crazy obsession that some people have when it comes to scrapbooking. I kept shaking my head in agreement as I read through the hilarious stories of the lengths people go through when passion for this art takes over! I could totally relate to many of the stories and felt reassured there were others out there just like me :) I wish this section was longer! The follow sections are a bit more on the serious side and have stories about how scrapbooking as help many people through the good times and bad. (although cancer seems to be a common theme and wish it were a bit more diverse). I am about three quarters of the way through the book and am already wishing it was longer. I can only hope they get enough response from this one that they will make a second edition in the future. I highly recommend this book!

Summer Documented Mini

Hello Crafters,
Have you heard of Elles Studio? If not you NEED to head on over there. Well, wait, not this minute finish this post first :) Elles Studio has many digital products but also sell hybrid stuff too. You can order the stuff and have it snail mailed to you or you can order the digital/hybrid stuff and print it yourself at http://www.jessicasprague.com/. That is what I do so that I can print it off as many times as I like.

I am an avid stalker of Sheri from http://auntierere.blogspot.com/  She is one of the designers for Elles Studio and when I saw how she used the 'Summer Documented' kit I purchased it right away however, it then sat on my computer for months while my Cricut obsession wore on. It was just recently I decided to print all those great digital/hybrid products I purchased over the last few months (when my Cricut was MIA, see past posts if you are a newer follower). Then I totally scrap lifted her idea. Here is the link to her original Summer Documented mini

Below are the pictures (I finally took) of the pages of my mini. Beware there are a ton because I wanted you to be able to see each page spread plus a closer look at each page to see the elements.
Enjoy!

Cricut Cartridges Updated

Hello Crafters,
Well, yesterday was a flop for me at Michael's. Since my Michael's is new they had zero Cricut cartridges on for the $16.99 clearance price. I was bummed but its okay because honestly since they have opened I have bought a ton of cartridges! My collection has doubled in the last 3 months! Speaking of which I realized today that the list of 'cartridges I own' posted on my blog was in serious need of an update since I have not done so in the last 3 months lol. Check it out on my sidebar. Well, I actually have time to craft today, so I am off to be creative!

Holiday Mini

Hello Crafters,
Remember forever ago when I mentioned working on a toilet paper roll mini album? Well, I still have yet to put the pictures in it but here is the frame work! Most of the embellishments are from a Christmas chipboard pack that I picked up at Michaels on Clearance for $4.99. I made this while my Cricut was still out of commission so the only Cricut cuts I was able to use were ones from my "mis-cuts" bin. I was surprised how many were in there that actually worked perfectly. All the papers I used were from last years Holiday packs from DCWV. These mini albums are super easy to make and I love the little pockets that are formed by the roll which make excellent slots for tags.
Thanks for looking!
Tara
P.S. Off to Michaels to see if I can get me some of those cartridges on clearance for $16.99!
