I think we're on to something here

Okay so it has not only been me having issues leaving comments this past week. Today I have discovered two things....

1. is that I could leave comments on blogs that had the pop up comment window (I have also discovered how to change mine to this as I like this layout better when I am leaving comments and hope my followers do to).

2. Tracey from Trace-elementz posted today that if you un-click the stay logged in button when signing in it will allow you to post comments also. Between these two things I am on a roll! Thanks Tracey.

I hope everyone else finds this works for them too if they are still having troubles.

Using up the Scraps Project #4

Hi Crafters,
Okay, so a couple challenges ago on the Birthday Sundaes Challenge blog I saw the circle card created by Sue from The Scrappings of Sue. Here is the link to the direct post of the card I liked so much. It was so simple and yet so super stylish. I sat down and punched a ton of circles with my Fiskers 1.5 inch punch and made so many of these cards. You know me... can't just make one in one colour lol. I plan on putting these in sets of 5 (1 of each colour) and giving them away as gifts. I made enough for 3 sets, yup 15 cards (well actually 16 I made one extra) all in just 2 evenings! The sentiment I used on the bottom was from my new Stampology set I won from Michelle at Purple Monkey Moments. The flowers were some I have had in my stash forever and the bling is from Dollarama.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Quick Update

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to leave a quick note on here to let you all know that yes I am still visiting your sites, it is just that blogger is still not allowing me to leave comments on most :) Anyone have any idea why this issue is not getting fixed? It feels like it has been too long.

Birthday Sundaes Challenge #11

Hello Crafters and welcome to another Birthday Sundaes post,
This week the challenge at Birthday Sundaes is to create a mascline birthday card. I always seem to struggle with these and tend to make them look childish no matter how hard I try so I decided to try something a bit different and instead of a Cricut cut I used a free digital stamp I found at in a scrap creations and my Prisma colour pencils. (All thought I did use a Cricut cut for the sentiment label, it's from Once Upon a Princess...I know funny cartridge to use to make a manly card, lol) When I saw this digital I knew exactly what I wanted it for. My fiance Brian is starting to fix up an old (classic, I think he calls it lol) truck. I am sure he will point out this image is nothing like his truck because of the details but to me all old trucks look the same lol. Brian's birthday is on June 9th so this challenge couldn't have come at a better time although I do need to increase my stash of manly cards too! Hop on over to the Birthday Sundaes blog for some more inspiration and then link up your project so we can check it out!
Happy Crafting!

Using up the scraps Project #2 and #3

Hello Crafters,
Here is another couple of projects that I have created using some of my long thin scraps. The scrapbook layout is another 8 x 8. The Cricut cut on it is also sort of a scrap, a while ago while attending a mini crop I cut a whole bunch of pieces out from cartridges my friend owned that I didn't. I finally decided to stop stashing them and go ahead and use them lol. The cut is from the A Child's Year cartridge. The little stars are from a dollar store punch. I loved this layout so much that I decided to use the scraps from the layout to create a card! Talk about using every last piece :)
The sentiment stamp is from the Simply Everything stamp set by Pink By Design and the date stamp is from Elles Studio (I'm in love with this stamp and will probably make you sick of it lol)
Thanks for stopping by I am going to be working on some more scrap projects today!
Tara
P.S. These pictures are terrible as we have had the worst weather here lately and my natural light is bad on a nice Sunny day lol. In real life the colours are super bright and they just pop!

Using up the scraps Project #1

Hello Crafters,
I thought I would do a little mini series showing you all the things I have made using up my scraps. Many of the ideas will be scraplifted but I will give credit to the source of the idea :) I just know there are a ton of you out there with piles upon piles of scraps too and I hope you might find some good ideas for using them up!
I showed you some pages on NSD of an 8 x 8 scrapbook I have been working on for a little girl I know and while I was trying to think about some non-theme related pages to put in it for those everyday pictures I started playing around with my scrap strips. I began layering them and this is what I ended up with....Love it! Of course the middle ended us looking very messy but once the photo mat was in place no one has to know. I will warn you this page is crazy thick though! The date stamp is from Elles Studio and the flower is from Dollarama.
Thanks for stopping by and come back soon to see more using up your scraps ideas soon!

Scraps, Scraps and more Scraps

Hello Crafters,
Do you ever feel that your scrap pile has just gotten out of hand? Well, it has got to that point for me. I keep ever little piece because as soon as I throw a scrap out and it heads to the recycling depot I find the perfect 'would be' use for it! I have a long pink plastic basket with all my long strips, a shoe box jam packed with anything smaller then a card layer and then 3 file folders for the larger pieces (1 for cardstock, 1 for patterns, 1 for seasonal). The file folders were not in too bad of shape but the smaller pieces were over the top. Oh and the best part the smaller pieces were in no sort of order what so ever then then the strips being separate. So here is what I began...

First I put all these strips in colour piles and then neatly put them back in the pink basket so that each colour would stay together. Next I attacked that shoe box you can just see the corner of. Again, I put all the same colour together and put all the same colour pieces in a sandwich baggie. If it was too big for the baggie it went into the file folder. I didn't take any pictures other then this one because I was on a mission! In the end it all looks so good though! My mom called when I was in the middle of doing it and asked me what I was up to...when I told her sorting scrap paper based on size and colour her reply was "are you really that bored?!" Scary part was, I thought this was a okay way to spend my Saturday night lol. Please say you can relate and it is a paper crafter thing not just me haha.

Anyways, this week I will show you a ton of projects I have made with these scraps! I have been super productive since this organizational binge!

Back tomorrow with a colourful project!

He gave the ring, I got my bling!

Hello Crafters,
So here is a layout that I started months ago! I started it and then when it failed to turn into what I had envisioned I threw it in a pile and forgot about it. Recently, it re-surfaced and I thought and thought about it until finally I decided to pull it apart and take out the parts that I was not in love with. I then put it all back together and ended up with this...which I love! I was a slow and painful process but it is the first 12 x 12 layout that I have created in over a year! I hope this is the start of many more layouts as I miss scrapbooking which was my first passion. It seems so intimidating now though. Cards are just so quick and easy but scrapbooking seems to take so much more time and there is no end. We shall see what happens! Oh and the best part of the entire ordeal...once finished I starting looking through the pictures on the computer for one of my ring and realized that I have never taken a picture of my ring...I have had it since October!
Tara
P.S. as for the recipe I have no idea...I know I welded the letters on design studio but can't tell you from what cartridge. I also manipulated the rings to make them work (again not sure where they are from) I did use a couple Elles Studio printable tags on it.

Bake Sale Blog Hop Day #2

***If you are looking for the Birthday Sundaes post click here***

Welcome back!
If you are arriving here from Tracy @ Craft Junkie Too then you are in the right place. If you have just happened along my blog and would like to start at the beginning then click here. On this blog hop you are going to see anything and everything that has to do with bake sales. Get ready to get some great ideas!
Today I am sharing with you something that I am reposting. If you have been a long, long time follower or have gone back through ALL my posts you may have seen it. It was one of the first projects I ever posted.

Here is the orginial post:
My Mom was hosting a benefit bake sale last weekend. Not only did I make some yummy banana chocolate chip muffins I also made this sign for the front of the table! I used the Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge (pg 73). I cut the Doll out using the fit to page feature on the Cricut Expression with the 12x12 paper. I can't remember what size she was cut at. Just remember to peek while you are doing it so you can cut all her pieces out at the same size. The letters were cut at 9". I've had both the Paper Doll carts for a long time but have just recently really began to play with them. I forgot I bought them because they were so darn cute!

Thanks for stopping by today. Your next stop is Jenny @ Crazy About Cricut

Birthday Sundaes Challenge # 9

Hello Crafters,
This week over on the Birthday Sundaes blog the challenge is to create a card with 3 circles on it somewhere plus as always it has to have a birthday greeting on the front. This week the challenge is sponsored by The Pink Stamper (I wish I could win lol). For my card I actually used a cut that I had left over from my banner I made for another Birthday Sundaes challenge a few weeks ago. When I got my new Stampendous stamp (from The Scrapbooking Cafe) I just knew a cupcake would go perfectly with it and once seeing the cute face on this one I knew she was the Cricut cut I wanted.

Please head on over to the Birthday Sundaes blog and check out the rest of the DT inspiration and then join in the fun! Can't wait to see all your wonderful creations!
Happy Crafting!

On this blog hop you are going to see anything and everything that has to do with bake sales. Get ready to get some great ideas!

The project that I made to share with you is a recipe book that I made out of a notebook I bought at the dollar store. I have made these in the past for gifts. I also sew and usually give it with a homemade reversible apron. They are always very well received! I have one that I use to record only my favourite recipes in that I go to often. I like the idea of all of my favourites in one handy place. I also think it will be neat to someday pass this well worn book on.

Thanks for stopping by today. Your next stop is Jenny @ Crazy About Cricut

The Pink Stamper NSD Challenge #4

Hello again,
You will notice that I am not posting these challenges in order. That is because some I skipped and some I plain ol' didn't have time to get to lol. Might try and get the ones I missed later. Challenge # 4 was to make something with a Mother's Day theme. Well, since I was a little behind this year and Mother's Day was only a day away I figured it was able time I made cards for my mom and Brian's mom lol! I was also still lovin' the cupcakes so I thought I would stick with the theme :) I tried sewing on my cards with the machine again on these cards and I just love how it turned out! I think you may see much more of this technique from me in the near future :)

Pink Stamper NSD Challenge #1

Hello Everyone,
I was on a mission yesterday and today to finish up a baby book for a little girl I know. It worked out perfectly because yesterday was National Scrapbook Day (like you didn't know this already) and many of the pages that I already had ideas for fit perfectly in with Robyn's hourly challenges. I didn't stop to post because I was on a crafting mission lol. I'll upload what I can today and show you the rest at a later date. The scrapbook was a 8 x 8 scrapbook and this was my first time working on one. The family I am making it for are non-scrapbookers so I have kept the pages very simple and each page has room for one 4 x 6 photo this way all they have to do is stick them in! I will try and post all the details about all the cuts below. Again, sorry about the picture I have not idea what what going on when I was taking it...it is a terrible picture!
Thanks for looking and I hope you also had a wonderfully productive NSD :)

Birthday Sundaes Challenge # 8

Hello Crafters,
This week the challenge over on the Birthday Sundaes challenge blog is 2 patterned papers and 3 different embellishments. Here is the card I made for some inspiration! (Sorry about the bad picture, it has been really gloomy here all week). The digital stamp is from Beccy's Place. As soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to make my aunt a card with it for her birthday this month. I coloured it with my Prisma coloured pencils. The spirals on the side of the card are paper clips from Staples! How cool are they?!
Hope everyone can join in this week!
Happy crafting!

Teacher Appreciation Blog Hop

Welcome to my blog and the Teacher Appreciation Blog Hop hosted by the very talented Jen from Jen's Craft Corner. If you have arrived here from Vivien papel then you are on track. If you have just happened to end up on my blog today and would like to start from the beginning (trust me you do, the talent is amazing) then click here. Everyone on the hop today had made a card, gift or special teacher that could be given to a teacher as token of appreciation. Being a teacher I have received many gifts from students and the ones that mean the most are the homemade (and useful) ones.

The gift I made today is bright and cheerful and very useful! (A supply list and directions are included under the picture). As you can see I use mine to keep my Prisma Colour pencils in. I have one friend who uses her's for stickers and another keeps it on her desk for mints. I get requests for them often, as many of my friends are teachers, lol.

Thanks for stopping by and if you decided to make one and post it leave me a link. I would love to see it!
I am your last stop on the hop today thanks for spending time with us and commenting along the way! (if you got side tracked I have included the line up at the end of this post).
Happy Crafting!
Tara

Supply list and Directions

A glass jar (I found that the hot glue didn't stick well to the plastic one I tried)
Enough crayons to go around the jar with no gaps
(I can't give you an exact number because this will depend on your size of jar)
Ribbon
Hot glue gun
yup that's it :)

Okay so first get that gun heated up and put a strip of glue on each crayon and stick it to the jar.
Go all the way around and try really hard to line them up straight (I use the base of the jar as my judge)
Once all the crayons are on then wrap it with ribbon and tie a bow. I always then put a little dab of glue behind each bump on the bow so it doesn't flop over time and a couple dabs on the inside of the ribbon around the jar so that it doesn't shift later.
Super simple!

*** Oh my goodness I almost forgot the blog candy!!! (I am editing this in lol) Since I recently reached 200 followers I am going to do a giveaway in honour of my wonderful followers and to keep with the theme of the hop I will be giving away the Locker Talk Cartridge to one lucky follower! Just leave me a comment on this post (with an email address) for your chance to win! I will randomly pick a winner next Saturday, May 14, 2011.

April Spending

Hi Crafters,
I have been dreading this post... I did terrible last month but since I can't blog hop since I can't see my blogs (see last post) I figured I might as well bite the bullet and post lol. Within the first 3 days of April I knew I had blown it and by day 9 I was toast. I needed (I'm not kidding here) to buy a large package of quality black cardstock for the favours I am making for my wedding and I found this awesome online store this month that is based out of my province The Scrapbook Cafe . Not only does that help me a great deal keeping shipping costs down but it has amazing prices to begin with! Also if you order over $100 shipping is free (more reason to buy more right)? So even though I knew I was in trouble after the 9th day on the 22nd I headed back on over to the site to order my black cardstock. This may have been a mistake lol. Who was I kidding I was not going to buy just one thing! I was actually able to meet the lady that runs it. She lives about an hour away but was in my area and actually brought my first order closer for me to pick up so I could avoid the shipping costs altogether. She is an amazing woman who saw a need (lack of scrapbooking supplies available in NS for a reasonable price) and decided to do something about it! Boy, am I glad she did or wait after looking at my total for this month, am I lol. Either way I will be shopping from her store often I am sure!
Okay for the totals... don't judge, we all these weak moments right? Next month I am hiding the visa!

OH NO!

Hello blog world,
I just signed into blogger and it says that I am currently not following any blogs....please we all know this is not true! lol. This happened once before and they came back once I signed in again but that didn't seem to work tonight. I am trying not to panic and just think it is a glitch and will be restored soon. I noticed there seems to be a few other things (tools and such) in different places too, so I thinking blogger is doing some stuff. Is anyone else having this problem or have in the past?

Birthday Sundaes Challenge # 7

Hello Crafters,
Can you believe we are already on challenge # 6 over the on Birthday Sundaes Blog!? This week the challenge is 'Anything Goes' and we are sponsored by Patti's Creations. Below is the card that I made with one of her digital stamps. Which can be purchased here . I had so much fun making this card...I actually went a little crazy and made a few which I will show you :) The image was just so great and by justing changing up the colours I could make the same design look like a totally different card. I'll explain more and you can see below.

I also made my own embellishment for this card. I saw similar ones in Michael's a while back and was shocked at the price. Anyways after careful inspection I realized I had all the materials to make my own and they really didn't look that hard. Seriously, once I tried I realized I can make one in under 5 minutes. They are great and I am sure you will be seeing many more of them on my future projects.
Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting!
Tara

This one was actually the first one I made. It feels a bit little old ladyish to me (shhh I think I am going to send it to my Nanny, she'll love it! lol).

I loved that one but felt it was really not my style. I tried some different colours and made the next one a bit more funky.

Oh wait there is more...on my third go I decided to go really funky with the colours and BAM...Love it!
I would also like to enter this last card into the Bows n Berries  - bold and bright challenge #4
